Structural Performance of Strengthening of High-Performance Geopolymer Concrete Columns Utilizing Different Confinement Materials: Experimental and Numerical Study

The objective of this study was to investigate the effectiveness different confinement materials in strengthening geopolymer concrete (GP) columns subjected axial compression loading. This research encompassed both experimental and numerical analyses. phase involved testing seven circular GP columns, while developing 3D finite element (FE) models using ABAQUS software. primary focus assess impact outer inner steel tubes, as well an polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tube a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheet. To validate FE models, results were utilized for comparison. findings revealed that provided superior effects on column’s core compared PVC CFRP capacities confined with steel, PVC, observed increase by 254.7%, 43.2%, 186%, respectively, comparison control specimens. Furthermore, utilization all significantly enhanced absorbed energy ductility columns. demonstrated reasonably close match terms load–displacement curves deformation patterns. correspondence between predictions data confirmed reliability their suitability generating further predictions. In summary, contributes field exploring efficacy various highlight performance demonstrate positive influence enhancing structural behavior validation supports potential future similar scenarios.
